In 2015, Stormy Kromer knew they needed to increase their sewing capacity, and happened upon the St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center. The relationship grew, and our very own Sister Carol and six of our seamstresses spent a week at their factory in Ironwood, Michigan, working hand-in-hand with the engineers and sewing trainers to learn their products. Since then, we have been individually hand-crafting vests for this amazing brand on our industrial sewing machines. We produce around 360 vests each month, and those made here receive an additional tag, so customers know where it came from.

Our History

Womans hands at a sewing machine.

Our commercial sewing business became our first social enterprise. Starting in 2008, our business venture enabled us to offer employment opportunities to the individuals in our program. By teaching them to sew professionally we are able to provide local businesses and individuals with medical apparel, such as scrubs and lab coats, custom embroidery, specialty items, designer aprons, stadium blankets, and other items may be needed. Through this work we have been able to expand our mission and serve many at-risk individuals in Flint.
